Each year about 20-30,000 people die of flu-related health complications in the U.S. Here we share two food recipes for prevention and treatment of flu-related symptoms. Scallion-Ginger Congee (Soup) <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;\"><strong>Ingredients: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">7 pieces white stems of scallion <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">6 grams raw ginger root <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">60 grams (1-11\/4 cups) brown or sweet rice<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">1 gram (1 tsp) rice vinegar<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">3 grams (3 tsp) salt<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">: <\/span><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-weight: normal;\">(a) Remove the skin of ginger root, wash thoroughly, slice into small pieces; (b) Clean the scallion stems with water, and chop into small pieces; (c) Wash sweet rice with water, mix with ginger root in a cook pot with appropriate amount of water (15-20 times the amount of rice), depending upon how thick you prefer), apply a mild fire to cook it into conge(soup); then add scallion stems, salt and rice vinegar to desired flavor, a few more minutes of cooking, the scallion-ginger conge is ready to serve.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/yang-sheng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/ys31.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-254 alignright\" title=\"walnut ginger soup\" src=\"http:\/\/yang-sheng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/ys31.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"261\" height=\"173\" \/><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>2. Walnut-Ginger-Scallion Tea <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><strong>Ingredients: <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">25 grams (1\/2 cup) shelled walnuts <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">25 grams (1\/2 cup) scallion stems<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">25 grams (1\/2 cup) ginger root<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">15 grams (1\/3 cup) tea leaves<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><strong>Methods<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">: (a) Clean scallion stems, ginger root and tea leaves separately with water; (b) grind walnuts, scallions and ginger root together into small pieces, put in ceramic pottery with tea, add water to boil with moderate fire for 10 to 15 minutes. Strain liquid into cup, it\u2019s ready to serve.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><strong>Function:<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> Eliminate viruses and get rid of colds; develop sweat and reduce fever.
