From Greenland, Fukushima, Syria, &amp; more; to our own backyards: how can anyone not notice, the collective &amp; individual, meltdowns &amp; breakdowns, we\u2019re facing?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Finding \u201cHappy\u201d in times like ours can be challenging.\u00a0 I often wake to SOS messages from friends, &amp; friends of friends worldwide, in crisis \u2013 from life changing catastrophic illness, sudden deaths of loved ones, financial collapses, natural disasters, relationship heartbreaks, to senseless accidents &amp; violence.\u00a0 Once faceless statistics &amp; news stories, are coming close to home.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Amidst the extra-ordinary winds of change of our times, we\u2019re nearly all being faced with \u201crubber hits the road\u201d, \u201cturning point\u201d, life changing choices, not always easy to make.\u00a0 What used to work is no longer valid. \u201cDon\u2019t worry! Be Happy!\u201d can ring hollow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Science however documents that happy people live longer, healthier, &amp; wealthier; plus have more success in work &amp; love as well.\u00a0 Choosing \u201cHappy\u201d is still the happiest choice.\u00a0 How to choose?\u00a0 From my clinical &amp; personal experience, here are some, in the trenches, proven effective, Qi tools &amp; principles worth re-visiting:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/yang-sheng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/259973_117746108314106_117732484982135_164964_2158595_n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-8454\" title=\"259973_117746108314106_117732484982135_164964_2158595_n\" src=\"http:\/\/yang-sheng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/259973_117746108314106_117732484982135_164964_2158595_n-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/yang-sheng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/259973_117746108314106_117732484982135_164964_2158595_n-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/yang-sheng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/259973_117746108314106_117732484982135_164964_2158595_n.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1- Breathe deeply &amp; slowly, into your heart. Be as mindful as possible, of what simply is, each moment of now \u2013 no past or future stories.\u00a0 With each breath, allow yourself to feel whatever you\u2019re feeling as authentically as possible.\u00a0 Intentionally breathe out \u201cstuck Qi.\u201d\u00a0 Breathe in \u201cgood\u201d Qi to naturally clear whatever you\u2019re ready to let go of.\u00a0 No matter how you may feel, trust that everything is somehow in the Dao of perfect Divine Order, as is, for the highest good for all, including you &amp; yours.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2- Smile! Smile! Smile!\u00a0 No matter what you\u2019re feeling, give yourself the Inner Smile of unconditional Love, Gratitude,\u00a0 Forgiveness, &amp; Acceptance, for everything as is, especially for yourself.\u00a0 Smiling recalibrates your body chemistry, neurotransmitters, heart rate variability, immune system,\u00a0 brain waves, &amp; more;\u00a0 to a more positive state, conducive to healing.\u00a0 Most importantly, with a smile, as Gretchen Rubin, best selling author of The Happiness Project, advises, give yourself the freedom to simply \u201cBE ME!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3- Love &amp; Focus. Focus on feeling your heart felt Yi Nian, clear Intention.\u00a0 What is your heart of hearts true desire? A recent Harvard study documents that people are likelier to report feeling happy, when focused, or when making love, an interesting juxtaposition.\u00a0 My 1<sup>st<\/sup> QiGong teacher, Grandmaster Effie Chow, teaches that Love, as one of the most powerful expressions of Qi, conquers all. What if we could all focus on making each breath, on some level, making Love?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4- Relate &amp; Cultivate nourishing,\u00a0 De\u00a0 \u201cvirtuous\u201d \u201cright\u201d relationships, &amp; \u201cright\u201d living.\u00a0 As Rubin advises, \u201cDo good. Feel good.\u201d Relationships are built over time, by connected inter-actions.\u00a0 Find your tribe, your community; then connect, take action, &amp; get involved.\u00a0 Patients with nourishing relationships, even with just pets, make better recoveries.\u00a0 Wisdom &amp; spiritual traditions, authorities on happiness, &amp; medical researchers concur that connectivity is key in living happier &amp; healthier.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/yang-sheng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/19653_236040268772_111871948772_3226876_577605_n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-8455\" title=\"19653_236040268772_111871948772_3226876_577605_n\" src=\"http:\/\/yang-sheng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/19653_236040268772_111871948772_3226876_577605_n-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/yang-sheng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/19653_236040268772_111871948772_3226876_577605_n-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/yang-sheng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/19653_236040268772_111871948772_3226876_577605_n.jpg 604w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5- Nourish your body in Yang Sheng life giving ways.\u00a0 Focus on giving to yourself.\u00a0 Gift yourself a massage.\u00a0 Let yourself be touched. Walking, singing, dancing, &amp;\/or just sounding your voice, or moving your body, in some simple repetitive pattern, are also measurably therapeutic.\u00a0 Treat yourself, to truly only organic whole Real Foods to eat, as fresh as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6- Surround yourself with uplifting, happy people.\u00a0 Be discerning of the company you keep. One fascinating study reports that happiness is a collective process, &amp; contagious. You\u2019re likelier to be happy, in the web of life, simply being connected with people who are already happy, whether or not you personally know them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7- Be still, &amp; know \u2026 Over the years, I\u2019ve two patients who deserve awards for Happiness.\u00a0 Both are quadriplegics, one at the hand of her ex.\u00a0 Hearing their stories, I asked, \u201cAre you crazy? How can you be so happy?\u201d\u00a0 One replied: \u201cWhat else is there?\u201d\u00a0 The other: \u201cI know my Maker, &amp; that\u2019s enough for me.\u201d\u00a0 Marci Shimoff, best selling author of Happy for No Reason, reports in her survey of indigenous shamans &amp; elders on happiness; that besides making time to sing, dance, &amp; connect; the fourth common practice they shared is to make time daily, to be still.\u00a0 By whatever name you may call \u201cuniversal Qi\u201d &#8211; With each breath, connect to the still small voice within, eternal Presence, that gives you a sense, as Einstein put it, that this is indeed a friendly universe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">All said, Qi Masters, &amp; \u201cexperts\u201d on Happiness, often are not naturally Happy.\u00a0 I, myself, confess that finding \u201cHappy\u201d for much of my life, has been painfully elusive. With my foster home background, I\u2019ve few &amp; far between \u201chappy\u201d childhood memories. The good news is that Qi works. Happiness is indeed a choice, not always easy, but hands down happier.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Chinese word for \u201ccrisis\u201d translates as either \u201cdanger\u201d or \u201copportunity.\u201d\u00a0 No matter what challenges, changes, or so called obstacles you may be facing, perhaps it\u2019s time to ask yourself:\u00a0 What gives YOU real Happiness? What are your true needs?\u00a0 What makes you feel loved?\u00a0 Unconditionally accepted as is?
